This brochure serves as a guideline on responsible procurement. It has been written to provide guidance for all our suppliers and includes an important overview of our regulatory environment and how this impacts our supply chain It also introduces our recently launched Supplier Certification Program .

JTI launched a Supplier Certification Program and created an internet-based portal for easy access to the questionnaire. The principles of our Supplier Certification Program are based on JTI’s Code of Conduct and key international standards. It encompasses what we expect from our suppliers in terms of labor standards, human rights, environment, health, safety and legitimate business practices. 

JTI also applies these standards within its own operations.

The objective of this Supplier Certification Program is to define and implement a framework that will enhance the controls surrounding the certification , qualification and monitoring of JTI’s vendor’s good standing. 

• The supplier certification process identifies whether the supplier meets the business and corporate responsibility standards required by JTI.
• It does NOT identify whether the supplier's products and services are suitable to meet a specific JTI business need.
• It does NOT affect existing qualification procedures, at this stage.

In order to be certified, suppliers will have to complete an online questionnaire accessible by invitation only. Each section of the questionnaire is supported with extracts from JTI’s Code of Conduct which provide examples of the practices that are expected to meet JTI’s standards.

Once the questionnaire has been completed and submitted by the supplier, JTI’s Procurement will review the answers and certify our suppliers as long as they embrace the same corporate responsibility principles as JTI.
