Table 2 - Composite List of Non-tobacco Material (NTM) Ingredients
Table 2 is a composite list of ingredients, excluding those in the tobacco blend, used in the manufacture of our products. Composite lists are also presented for cigarettes, cigars and snus. In cigarettes these ingredients include cigarette paper, inks, filter assembly components, and adhesives. These ingredients are purchased from suppliers, many of whom consider the ingredients in their materials to be valuable trade secrets. Hand rolling and pipe tobaccos do not contain any non tobacco blend ingredients and therefore do not appear under table 2.
Each ingredient is identified by its
- Chemical Abstract Service Registry Number (CAS Number), where available
- International Union for Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) name or common chemical name.
Other information provided includes:
"Quantity Not Exceeded" (QNE), or maximum level at which an ingredient is used, is expressed as the percentage by weight of the ingredient in the manufactured product (including moisture); these levels are given for each ingredient. The QNE is calculated from the highest specified target level of use of the ingredient in any single brand manufactured by Gallaher Group for sale anywhere in the world. For convenience, ingredients have been grouped into the following categories, where appropriate, and are listed alphabetically within that category:
A. Cigarette Papers
B. Sideseam Adhesives
C. Inks used on Cigarette Papers
D. Filtration Materials
|
E. Filter Adhesives
F. Filter Overwraps
G. Tipping Papers and Tipping Paper Inks
|
Table 2 contains all those materials that have been disclosed as ingredients to Gallaher Group by its suppliers. It is recognised that manufacturers of non-tobacco materials may need to use process aids in the manufacture of materials. These process aids have no technological function in the final product and are therefore not included.
