Table 3 - By Brand Information and Ingredients added to Tobacco

Table 3 provides information on each brand and a list of the ingredients added to the tobacco blend. Each ingredient is identified by its Chemical Abstract Service Registry Number (CAS Number), where available, and by it’s International Union for Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) name or common chemical name. Function and "Quantity Not Exceeded" (QNE), expressed as the percentage by weight of the ingredient in the tobacco blend (including moisture), are given for each ingredient. The QNE is calculated from the highest specified target level of use of the ingredient in any single brand of this type manufactured by the Gallaher Group for sale in each market. There are no QNEs for processing aids as these are added by tobacco manufacturers to facilitate the manufacturing process and they are either not present in the end product or occur in residual amounts and have no function in the final product. Ingredients are listed in descending order based on "Quantity Not Exceeded"

Any natural, nature identical (i.e. man made) and artificial flavours and flavour compounds that are individually used at low levels are grouped under "Flavourings". These brand recipe "Flavourings" represent valuable trade secrets for the Gallaher Group. Ingredients of these brand recipe flavourings are included in Table 1, which is a composite list of all tobacco ingredients and while details of these are not provided in Table 3, a complete and comprehensive list of them is provided in Table 1.

The footnotes to Table 3 provide further information on the definitions of the terminology.
